Heyyy so this is the last of my August updates. September will have a new theme which I haven’t yet decided but I will very soon.
I’ve been thinking about making cushion covers because I want to get new cushions for my bed and since I can sew, I may as well just do it myself. I’m planning to come up with a simple geometric design that I will create a reverse appliqué from then I will incorporate it into each cushion in a different way. Anyway whilst planning this out I had a brainwave that I could create a range of soft furnishings, at some point in my life.
Also at the top of the post you can see me wearing a dress which I have now cut because I honestly don’t think I’m capable of wearing long dresses or skirts. Its going to be a few inches above the knee and I’m also going to take it in at the sides to make it more fitted.
Lastly on the agenda of this weeks post is my vegetarian journey as it’s coming to an end. August has been a great month of meat-free-ness and even though I haven’t permanently converted I definitely think I could. I’m actually thinking of trying eating vegan for maybe a week or something as it is undoubtedly the crème de la crème of all the ways to eat.
Thanks for reading,
I feel as though the past few days I’ve been struggling a little with blog posts. It can be hard blogging daily because I’m constantly having to come up with new things, all the time. I’ve still been posting but I haven’t felt as though I have much to say, which is unusual for me. Luckily today I’ve gotten my inspiration back so I’ve been able to start prepping some of next weeks posts.
I haven’t done any sewing for while but I’m planning to do a reverse appliqué soon. I haven’t decided on the pattern yet but I’m thinking geometric, in neutral tones and one bold colour like fushia. Textiles is something I’ve always enjoyed since I was about 10 years old when I first learnt to hand embroider in primary school.
Lastly on the agenda is me being meat-free. I actually don’t miss eating meat and I thought I would but I’ve gained a much greater liking for vegetables. I only planned to experiment with being vegetarian for the month of august but I’m now considering keeping it up for longer.
Thanks for reading,
I wrote something a few days ago and at the time I thought it was good, but now I feel as though it doesn’t really depict what I wanted it to, so it needs some work. Also I had an idea to start writing a book, I’m not sure if I’ll actually do it though.
Being vegetarian is going really well but I have experienced a slight loss of appetite but maybe that’s just down to the fact that I’m eating food that’s more filling.
Moving on I’m taking this weekend to recharge and make some plans as I have quite a lot to sort out.
Lastly a quote on creativity.
“To be creative means to be in love with life. You can be creative only if you love life enough that you want to enhance its beauty, you want to bring a little more music to it, a little more poetry to it, a little more dance to it.”
Hey so this is my first weekly august post.
As I mentioned in a post a little while ago I have a bunch of clothes to revamp and I got started on my machine today. I’m really looking forward to wearing the pieces and sharing the outfits on my blog.
I’ve also been writing a lot more over the past week. Nothings quite finished yet, but once it is I will probably post it here. I love just writing about life from things I’ve experienced.
Lastly my vegetarian/healthy eating is going well, I feel as though I’ve been eating a lot less in general which is good. Following from that I’ve also been exercising; yesterday it was a short hike whilst this morning at around 8am I went cycling with my sister.
My theme for this month is creativity. I’m not yet sure how I’ll be translating it into the weekly posts but I’ll come up with something.
I think that creativity is a big part of self-expression which is what my blog is all about. I used to be so scared of sharing my creative interests because I always worried about not being good at them. However when it comes down to it what’s important is what it means to me.
For example I love to write, I do it every single day. Its not something I’m particularly good at but I never needed to be because my attachment to it spans from it being a coping mechanism.
- This month I’m going to be a vegetarian, I did it in January and found that I was so much healthier when I didn’t eat meat.
- I think I’m going to continue with blogging daily because even though it can be difficult, its definitely worth it.
Hey, isn’t it crazy how quickly this month has gone by. I feel like it was just last week that I posted my first Vegetarian January post.
This past week has been great and at times not so great but that actually has nothing to do with what I’ve been eating.
I feel like this last week has gone by so quickly and I’m actually a little nervous to start eating meat again after going so long without it.
What I’ve learnt over the past month is that its not the meat that’s a necessity it’s the protein. I feel like last year meat was an essential part of the meals I ate but now I’m so good without it.
I’ve really come to love being vegetarian over the weeks even though it was challenging to start with.
This month wasn’t just about not eating meat it was also about improving my diet by cutting out excessive sugary snacks and eating more vegetables.
I used to snack on sweets A LOT, like I swear I was addicted. Now I snack on fruit, salad and nuts and I love it. It makes me feel so good when I’m eating a banana instead of a chocolate bar or cucumber instead of biscuits.
I really hope that next month my eating habits continue to get better and that I don’t revert back to old ways.
I don’t want to go on too much but lastly I just want to thank you as a reader, for taking an interest in my Vegetarian January posts. Thanks to all those who read, liked and commented on posts. Also thanks to those who read these posts and decided to follow my blog.
I’m actually a little sad January is almost over, but its been good.
Hey, if your new to this series here’s week 1 and week 2.
This weeks been good, I think I can say I have fully adjusted to being vegetarian. For weeks 1 and 2 there were times when I was just clueless about what to eat, I wasn’t getting enough protein or I’d feel like I was missing out when the rest of my family was eating meat.
I think the best thing about this past week is that I’ve been eating alot healthier. I’ve probably been eating twice as much fruit and veg than I usually would and I’ve been enjoying it.
Also I usually eat a lot of sugary snacks but the past week that habit has gotten kicked to the kerb (hopefully it stays there)!
I’ve been feeling really energetic and in a great mood.
Lastly I’ve been drinking much more water its having a very good effect on my skin.
A totally delicious apple pastry.
This is egg-fried rice with kidney beans, onion and carrot.
That’s it for week 3, next week is the final weekly post but I’ll do a final summary of the month on the 31st.
