February Round-up 2015

I didn’t blog much last month but February was a great.

I started working as a waitress temporarily and so far I quite like it. I get to spend my day working alongside some rad people and the customers are great too.

I’ve been listening to The Jezabels a whole lot and realised that they are my all time favourite band.

I wrote a blog post called ‘Turning a page’ and I am so pleased with how it turned out, proud that I got to a point where I was able to share it and happy with the comments people left.

In the second half of February my journal became filled with happiness. I’m really enjoying writing about all the positivity in my life and when I look back on it I’ll smile.

I did quite a lot of shopping last month and got this amazing dress along with a whole bunch of other really nice pieces that I cannot wait to style.

Over the past couple weeks I have seen so many old friends from school and college, people that I don’t even keep in contact with. It was really nice (and also totally random) seeing these people because I haven’t seen them since last summer.

That’s all for the past month, I will be getting back to regular posting (slowly but surely) and I have a tonne of rad stuff to share.

I can’t wait!

Things are changing and there’s nothing you can do

I’m sitting on my bed feeling reflective listening to Wonderwall by Oasis. I haven’t really listened to the lyrics of the song before but I like it very much.

The past week has been a little strange. A couple of days ago I had a conversation with someone about what I wanted to do with my life. It was unexpected and I was taken by surprise at this persons interest. It was one of those moments in life where you can feel things changing and this time I think it is for the better.

I don’t really feel comfortable talking about myself to other people (sometimes) believe it or not, I know it might be hard to believe since I do it all the time on my blog HA! Anyway I do this thing were I answer questions with ‘I don’t know’ which nearly always means ‘I don’t want to tell you’. Its a terrible habit but I’m working on being more open with people, maybe something good will come of it.

This year my life is going to change a lot, I’m not sure on the specifics but I just know it. I’ll be honest and tell you I’m a little bit terrified. I’m not really accustomed to the spontaneity of life, I struggle to let go and let life do its thing.

Keeping with the theme of change I’m in the process of changing things here on my blog too. I want a new name that is interesting and unusual, like me. I’ve come up with a few ideas so far but turns out they weren’t as original as I thought.

When it comes to change you can either drag your heels in resistance or accept there is nothing you can do and embrace life with open arms and a (potentially fake) smile on your face.

So here’s to letting go, embracing change and being as happy as we can possibly be. In the words of aqualung ‘Good times gonna come’, I can feel it in my bones!

November round-up

Happy December 1st!

I don’t have an advent calender this year but I really wanted one of the beauty ones but I don’t have like £60 to spend on something I don’t need so…

Anyway I thought I would begin by doing a summary of the previous month.

Reading

I much prefer reading to watching tv shows or movies and have done since I was little. To be honest though for the 2 years I was at college I didn’t read many books at all, maybe about 5 or 6. A couple of the books I read last month were: The A-List family, Undiscovered gyrl and Sparkle. I’ve also been reading history books about Birmingham which I really love doing. Most of the books I read I get from my local library which is just a short walk away from my house.

2HelpfulGuys

This is the name of a blog I have really enjoyed reading this month. It is written by these 2 guys called Steven and Leroy, they give awesome advice (they really are helpful). When I read their blog posts I’ve really been able to relate to things they’ve written.

Seeking opportunity

I may have the opportunity to do something really cool next year which I’m excited about. It’s one of those once in a life-time opportunities that will change me forever (perhaps that’s slightly dramatic).

Changing my url

Towards the end of last month I began to come up with changes I wanted to make. The biggest one is my blog url but I’m unsure of all the implications. I want to change it to lmg+life and I’ve already came up with what I want the header to look like.

Stephi Lareine

This is another blog I really like. She posts outfits and beauty mostly but she recently did a post worth reading: Blogging and advertising: Are you getting the truth?

Disco biscuit love

An amazing song by The Jezabels who make amazing songs. Listening to this song always puts me in a good mood

Heidie Makes

So another blogger who may already know about but she posts about a variety of things: beauty, fashion, recipes, fitness and more. She did a weekly series in November called Healthy November and I really enjoyed reading it. Also she takes amazing pictures so you should definitely take a look at her blog.

Mushroom magic

The name of the last nail polish I bought. It is from Poundlands new make-up range (which has surprisingly gotten decent reviews, minus the mascara). I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and I really like the colour (its like dark brown with a hint of purple).

The Lineup

This is the name of my current favourite youtube channel. Its by 2 girls Julia and Maya, they post mostly fashion videos but other stuff too. They have amazing style and the editing is great too.

September roundup: Wandering, writing and reading

September turned out nothing like I thought would have but it was pretty good towards the end. Anyway I thought I’d just share some stuff from Pinterest to round-up last month.

Can you believe its already October!!!

Aaaaah... reading in the park, best way to spend a sunny day! by Miles Hyman

2012 version of Puberty Blues as a TV series = brilliant!

500 Greatest Albums of All Time: The Stone Roses, 'The Stone Roses' | Rolling Stone

True...so all the voice people say i'm talking to are just people i wrote about...which are in my head...so i guess i am talking to the voices in my head, but you never know maybe I made a book character after you, so then I'm really talking to you in my head...YES.

I think it's important to take a small vacation maybe once or twice a year, reflect on your life and set some goals you'd like to accomplish in the near future. it takes a long time to finally figure out who you are as a person & what you really want out of life.

Some people don't come with a clear definition and are often misunderstood. They are different and undefinable.

Lastly I discovered the blog Zoe London and it is honestly so amazing that I wouldn’t believe you if you didn’t like it, so check it out!

Favourites July: Music

Hello 🙂

I listen to quite a variety of music and for the 2nd week of Favourites July, I have decided to share a bunch of my favourite songs that I listen to. I’ve also included my favourite line from each song.

I have the fun stuff like:

One direction- I don’t have a specific song, I actually like quite a few including Something great, Magic and Strong.

Pots haring tots by George Clinton- “you would walk before I run and I’d run away with you”

The sad/ I’m feeling emotional  stuff like:

Beat to beat by The Jezabels- “all of the things that I don’t want all of the things that I don’t need are weighing me down, are weighing me down, but it goes on”.

Tracks of my tears by Smokey Robinson- “take a good look at my face, you’ll see my smile looks out of place”.

Easier to lie by Aqualung- “honestly to look you in the eye, it’s easier to lie”.

Take me home by Aqualung- “there’s a dead end straight ahead wont you take me home”.

Good times gonna come by Aqualung- “you came to me from nowhere with nothing and no one”.

Up on the roof by The Drifters- the only place I know where you just have to wish to make it so”.

Saving all my love for you by Whitney“each time I try I just break down and cry cus I’d rather be home feeling blue”.

The songs that cheer me up/make me smile:

The end by The Jezabels- “if you give me  a chance I wont lie I wanted to thank you for pulling me back from the brink”.

You’ll like it too by Funkadelic “would it be alright to share our dreams with you”.

Lastly is a song that goes in a category all by its self because I truly feel like I can relate to the lyrics:

She’s so hard by the Jezabels- “maybe your just to good for me, or maybe your just no use to me”.

Thanks for reading, let me know your favourite songs or artists in the comments.
