November round-up

Happy December 1st!

I don’t have an advent calender this year but I really wanted one of the beauty ones but I don’t have like £60 to spend on something I don’t need so…

Anyway I thought I would begin by doing a summary of the previous month.

I much prefer reading to watching tv shows or movies and have done since I was little. To be honest though for the 2 years I was at college I didn’t read many books at all, maybe about 5 or 6. A couple of the books I read last month were: The A-List family, Undiscovered gyrl and Sparkle. I’ve also been reading history books about Birmingham which I really love doing. Most of the books I read I get from my local library which is just a short walk away from my house.

This is the name of a blog I have really enjoyed reading this month. It is written by these 2 guys called Steven and Leroy, they give awesome advice (they really are helpful). When I read their blog posts I’ve really been able to relate to things they’ve written.

Seeking opportunity

I may have the opportunity to do something really cool next year which I’m excited about. It’s one of those once in a life-time opportunities that will change me forever (perhaps that’s slightly dramatic).

Changing my url

Towards the end of last month I began to come up with changes I wanted to make. The biggest one is my blog url but I’m unsure of all the implications. I want to change it to lmg+life and I’ve already came up with what I want the header to look like.

Stephi Lareine

This is another blog I really like. She posts outfits and beauty mostly but she recently did a post worth reading: Blogging and advertising: Are you getting the truth?

Disco biscuit love

An amazing song by The Jezabels who make amazing songs. Listening to this song always puts me in a good mood

Heidie Makes

So another blogger who may already know about but she posts about a variety of things: beauty, fashion, recipes, fitness and more. She did a weekly series in November called Healthy November and I really enjoyed reading it. Also she takes amazing pictures so you should definitely take a look at her blog.

Mushroom magic

The name of the last nail polish I bought. It is from Poundlands new make-up range (which has surprisingly gotten decent reviews, minus the mascara). I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and I really like the colour (its like dark brown with a hint of purple).

The Lineup

This is the name of my current favourite youtube channel. Its by 2 girls Julia and Maya, they post mostly fashion videos but other stuff too. They have amazing style and the editing is great too.

The Fashionista Award Tag

I haven’t done a tag before so when I read the Fashionista tag on Blissfully Brunette, I thought i’d give it a go.

  1. What motivated you to start blogging?

Well I read a book and one of the characters had a blog and it just seemed like a cool idea. I started my first blog in 2011, it was a way to occupy my free time but also a nice escape from the daily frustrations of my life.

  1. Favourite movies?

I like the Bourne movies, the Step Up movies and Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

  1. What is your dream career?

Is it bad that I don’t really have a specific answer? Whatever career I have I want it to be something creative because I’ve always enjoyed making things. The other thing I want to do is be a speaker because I want to connect with and inspire people.

  1. Top wishlist items right now?

A ring, a small top-handle bag, a pair of loafers and a duster coat or long-line blazer.

  1. Favourite television shows?

Degrassi, Made in Chelsea, Awkward, Home and Away and My mad fat diary.

  1. What stores do you find yourself shopping at the most?

I shop at h&m quite a lot and also charity shops.

  1. Favourite fashion designers?

I’d have to say Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Dior.

  1. Describe your dream vacation?

Some place with lots of Architecture and history, mountains to climb and a beach to relax. I live in England and the only other countries I have been to are Wales and Jamaica (so long ago I barely remember).

  1. What are your goals for blogging?

My goal as a blogger is to post every day and enjoy it. I try not to focus too much on followers and views. It just makes me happy to know that there are some people that read my blog regularly (so ‘Thanks’ if that’s you!), it doesn’t matter whether its 3 or 3000.

    10.  If you had the opportunity to interview a celebrity, who would it be?

Definitely Keke palmer, she’s 20 years old and has already done so much in her life. I find her inspiring and she seems like such a good person.

July’s themed posts

For the month of July I chose the theme of Favourites because I wanted to share some of my favourite things with you. This is just a quick round-up of the posts I did this month in case you missed them.

I’ve really enjoyed doing this theme and next month there will be another theme, but I haven’t decided what it is yet. I’ll let you guys know in a couple days!

Favourite bloggers

Hey you!

For this weeks favourites post I decided to share a few of my favourite blogs ever!

I’d really like for you to check out at least one them, you just might find a new favourite blog 🙂

Seth Godin

I admire Seth Godin very much. He’s a blogger, works in marketing and writes books. Godin is also the reason I decided to start daily blogging as it’s something that he does. The reason I like his blog so much is because I learn something new everyday. Also I emailed him and he responded which was so nice of him and unexpected.

The next 2 blogs are similar as they are both mainly style blogs that also include some life stuff aswell.

Regally Blonde

I’ve been following this blog for ages and I still like it as much as I did then. Her style is very chic and totally different from mine but I still use her outfit posts for inspiration sometimes. I really like the photography on her blog as well and also her style of writing as it’s always interesting to read.

I’ve been following her blog pretty much from the start and her blog just continues to get better. Her blog is one of my favourites because she wears outfits that I would wear, she blogs daily even though she has a busy life and I always look forward to reading the next post.

Here are some of the other blogs I follow:

Dianas book

Into the soulshine

I’ve got cake

That’s it for this post, thanks for reading!

Favourites July: Music

Hello 🙂

I listen to quite a variety of music and for the 2nd week of Favourites July, I have decided to share a bunch of my favourite songs that I listen to. I’ve also included my favourite line from each song.

I have the fun stuff like:

One direction- I don’t have a specific song, I actually like quite a few including Something great, Magic and Strong.

Pots haring tots by George Clinton- “you would walk before I run and I’d run away with you”

The sad/ I’m feeling emotional  stuff like:

Beat to beat by The Jezabels- “all of the things that I don’t want all of the things that I don’t need are weighing me down, are weighing me down, but it goes on”.

Tracks of my tears by Smokey Robinson- “take a good look at my face, you’ll see my smile looks out of place”.

Easier to lie by Aqualung- “honestly to look you in the eye, it’s easier to lie”.

Take me home by Aqualung- “there’s a dead end straight ahead wont you take me home”.

Good times gonna come by Aqualung- “you came to me from nowhere with nothing and no one”.

Up on the roof by The Drifters- the only place I know where you just have to wish to make it so”.

Saving all my love for you by Whitney“each time I try I just break down and cry cus I’d rather be home feeling blue”.

The songs that cheer me up/make me smile:

The end by The Jezabels- “if you give me  a chance I wont lie I wanted to thank you for pulling me back from the brink”.

You’ll like it too by Funkadelic “would it be alright to share our dreams with you”.

Lastly is a song that goes in a category all by its self because I truly feel like I can relate to the lyrics:

She’s so hard by the Jezabels- “maybe your just to good for me, or maybe your just no use to me”.

Thanks for reading, let me know your favourite songs or artists in the comments.

Life snippets: July’s theme

When I first started SotL I used to do snippets of the month posts. They included what I’d been up to for that month and some of my current favourite things.

I stopped doing them as I didn’t enjoy making them after a while. I think it was because I found it difficult to structure them in a way that created regularity, so they often ended up a bit of a mess.

Last month I actually thought about starting up Snippets of the month again (as I know I now have the time to plan them properly), this is how I came up with July’s theme: Favourites.

Each week there will be a different focus: Tv, music, style and blogs.

I’m looking forward to ‘Favourites July’ as I think its quite a fun and chilled theme in comparison to some of the other ones I’ve chosen.

I’ll be posting the first one of the month in about a week.
