This time last year I was a completely different person. I think it was a case of just not knowing myself very well, not having the confidence to be myself or a combination of the 2. This outfit is something I would have worn last year when I was at college.
It’s funny how an outfit can just take you back. The jacket is very old and when I was at college I wore it all the time and now that that period of time is over I don’t really want the jacket any more.
Also apologies for the faces I’m pulling especially in the second photo, ha ha!
Someone told me this outfit reminded them of a school girls uniform but I was not offended because I looked spectacular. The shirt dress is quite thin and a little short at the sides so I wore black shorts underneath just in-case. The thin sweater added warmth and the belt was the finishing touch.
The shirt dress was quite a recent purchase from tkmaxx but I’ve worn it so much already, it is definitely one of my SS15 fashion essentials. I’d love another shirt dress in a bright rich colour or with a crazy psychedelic pattern so I’m going to put that on my wishlist along with 101 other things.
Lately I have been feeling pretty discontent. What I think I need is something new and exciting but I haven’t figured out what just yet. I’m finally getting back into the habit of taking photos of my outfits which I am happy about because I love documenting my style.
However, I’ve been going through a bit of a style crisis as I feel like most of my clothes don’t suit me anymore. I’m unsure as to whether this is a temporary phase or if I should actually get rid of 1/2 of my clothing. I can’t afford to buy new clothes yet but I’ll probably do a post later this week to show what sort of style I’m after.
Lastly I am in the process of deciding between a name change and a new blog, I’ve been thinking about this for months but I think I’m finally ready to put my plans into action.
An oversized shirt with straight jeans makes a pretty awesome outfit. I would usually have buttoned up the shirt right to the top but this time I left the top few buttons undone, just to try something different.
The outfit was a success (in my opinion) and I had a pretty good day when I wore it. Also I’m now on the hunt for more oversized shirts/blouses because I think the shirt+jeans combo might be my new uniform.
This particular outfit almost didn’t make the blog because the sun messed it up. However after some editing it turned out alright.
The cardigan is from h&m for just £7.99 which is awesome, it’s really light and the length of it is perfect. The cami and jeans are old essentials that make up some of my best outfits. What I like about this outfit is that I looked good and felt confident. Never underestimate the power of the right clothing combination.
These past few days I’ve been trying to reconnect with some of my old college friends as since we all finished last summer I have been pretty distant. As I’ve mentioned here and there over the past couple of months, last year my mental health was in terrible condition. I spent a lot of time alone because I didn’t really want people to see me as I was.
Anyway the point is that things are very different now and I feel a happiness I don’t think I’ve ever felt before. I laugh every single day and I’m so grateful. Each day is full of little victories and I am the best I have ever been.
I often make a mess of my outfits when I’m heading off to the library or nature reserve. The way I see it I’m going there solely for myself so it really doesn’t matter what I look like.
I guess that was my inspiration behind this outfit which I’m not so sure what I think of. Initially I thought it was a bit a catastrophe with all the colours however blue, read and cream go together pretty well.
That’s all for now.
Lately I haven’t been very inspired when it comes to putting outfits together. I have put on a little weight recently and I guess I’d say I kinda feel chubbier (even the word sounds gross) and a whole lot more self-conscious.
I was thinking the other day how my outfits are becoming less fun which I’d put down to a combination of winter, laziness and conformity. However the weather is getting warmer which means I can start taking out all my bright spring/summer clothes and I for one cannot wait.
Anyway I actually quite like how this photo turned out although perhaps this jumper and dress combo accentuates my broad shoulders ‘pah-ha-ha’.
