This is how I get things done as a blogger.
Writing things down
I think one of the best tips for blogging would be to write down ideas.
I have 2 note books that I use for blogging.
The first one is a diary with a section for each day where I write down what I’ll be posting each day. This helps me stay organised because whenever I go to work on a blog post I already have written down what I need to do.
The next book is one where I write down ideas for posts. This is really helpful for me because I post quite a lot.
Doing things in advance
Something that I like to do is schedule posts. I don’t do it all the time but I find it really helpful for when I know I’m going to be busy. Also even if I don’t schedule a post I’ll often half-plan a few posts so that when I’m ready to post I can just go to the drafts section and choose.
Another super great idea that kind of follows on from that would be to take photos in advance. When I take my outfit photos its nothing fancy just in my bedroom in front of the window. For me its pretty easy to take photos for a bunch of outfits all in the same day if I’m not busy.
Inspiration and ideas
I like to come up with ideas when I’m washing-up. I have a set of things that I post regularly so new ideas isn’t always a major issue. I have started planning 2 series that I’ll start posting in November, I haven’t started either of them yet though so I best get to it!
When it comes to outfits however I never want to just be posting the same old, same old. Over the past week or so I’ve been looking at books that show the main trends and styles of past decades. I’m thinking of doing an 80’s Power dressing inspired outfit soon.
This is the last post of my October themed posts but incase you missed the others:
Why I started daily blogging
Pros+Cons of daily blogging
Over the past few days I have been sorting through my wardrobe, putting away the summer pieces and putting in the pieces for the colder weather. Whilst doing that I found this waistcoat (along with a bunch of other items) that I had totally forgotten about. I’m not really sure why the waistcoat wasn’t in the main section of my wardrobe as it’s something you can wear all year round.
I wore the waistcoat with black jeans and a polo/turtle/roll neck top. I haven’t worn a formal waistcoat for a really long time but I like being able to take a formal piece and style it in a casual everyday outfit.
Hey, I’m back after 10 days of not posting. I wasn’t really up to much just thinking about what I want to do with my blog and what I don’t want to do.
I won’t be daily blogging anymore because after a couple months I stopped enjoying it.
From today onwards I will be posting 5 times a week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
I just feel like a change and the current header I have isn’t very me, it’s a little too girly I feel with the font and flowers.
This post turned out much shorter than I thought, tomorrow I’ll hopefully be posting an outfit though, so be sure to return.
All items via the topshop.com
Here is a little collection of some things I’d pick up from Topshop, if I had about £400 to spend.
My favourite piece from the wishlist is the orange and blue coat. It is amazing but also costs £78 and I don’t have £78 to spend on a new coat.
My second favourite piece would have to be the first pair of black lace-up ankle boots as I love thick soles that I can stomp around in.
Enjoy your weekend!
I don’t remember the last time I posted before midday but this was meant to be up yesterday so…
I love blogging but doing it daily isn’t always easy.
Maintaining good quality posts
When I click publish I want to be 100% happy with what I’m posting. But sometimes I’m not fully happy and feel obligated to post anyway because when I don’t I feel guilty. Somedays I’m just don’t know what I want to say or out of the 25 outfit pictures I’ve taken I don’t like any of them.
Running out of ideas
I write down what I’m posting each day in a diary and I always plan at least 4/5 days ahead. However I have days when I’m planning the following weks posts and I don’t know what to post. I only do 3 /4 outfits post a week maximum so sometimes I get stuck and it can be very frustrating.
Wondering if it’s worth it
I like posting regularly but I’m beginning to wander if I need to. If I didn’t blog daily I’d still do it at least every other day. Also I feel like if I posted less I’d be more organised as I could spend more time on my content.
Being somewhat organised is essential for daily blogging because you have to be on the ball. I have my posts planned out in a diary and on the productive days I can manage to schedule posts for the next 3-5 days
Finding new blogs
Since posting daily my views and followers have increased. Whenever I get a like or comment I always take a look at the persons blog and in doing so I have found some great new blogs. One in particular is Jenn who has the blog pinklacepearls and I found her blog after she left a comment on mine.
Learning and improving
Like most things the more time I spend blogging the more I learn. Each day I have the chance to experiment and try out new things. You could compare it to so many other things, the more you do it the more you learn and improve, which is great.
So to end this post I just want to say that the pro’s of daily blogging (and blogging in general) far outweigh the cons. The more I blog the more confident I become with it and the more involved I’m trying to be in the blogging world.
Thanks for reading,
I haven’t blogged for 2 days which I feel quite guilty about as I usually post daily. As much as I like daily blogging sometimes I feel like I end up putting alot of pressure on myself with it. I think I might end up blogging a little less eventually but I’l let you know.
Anyway today I have an outfit post featuring a very baggy cardigan much loved by me. Its super cosy and can easily be thrown on over anything. In this outfit I paired it with high-waisted jeans and a camisole but as the weather gets colder I’ll be wearing it with roll-necks and light sweaters.
Outfits like this are perfect for chilled days when I’m hanging out with one of my sisters or doing some shopping on the high st. However I have not been shopping for what feels like ages and I have so much that I want to buy.
That’s it for now but I should have another post up later on.
“Dream big because you can”
That is my message to you this fine Sunday. Its not always easy to remain in high spirits when your goals feel unattainable. But that shouldn’t stop you dreaming big because where ever you end up won’t be possible without the dreams you create for yourself.
So let’s all dream BIG and be fantastic!!!
