Expressive February: Week 2

Hey,

Over the past week since I’ve decided to make some changes to my blog I actually considered not bothering with ‘Expressive February’, but then I thought I ought to finish what I started, so here I am with week 2.

This past week I spent more time than usual hanging out with one of my guy friends group of friends. They’re really chilled and easy to get long with. When it comes to expressing myself around them its effortless and I think that sometimes their surprised at the things I say when I speak my mind .

So in the time I spent hanging around with these guys I was called:

-‘A lad’, to this I responded ‘what girl would want to be called a lad by guys???’ they then assured me it had nothing to do with being a guy. Basically they think I’m really cool.

– Funny, which I take as a compliment because I know how much I love it when people make me laugh.

– Lastly, ‘a Lion’, because of my attitude but when hanging out with a group of guys its totally necessary.*

Before I end the post I want to leave you with a song that goes with this months theme perfectly.

Salt N Pepa- Expression

*Please note even though I was called a Lion, I’m not some majorly ferocious girl, I’m pretty tame!

Pink and floral

wpid-IMG_20140213_184831-1.jpgThis is the outfit that I wore to college yesterday for Valentines day. The top I’m wearing is a camisole from  new look and I really love it. I got it towards the end of last year on sale and its such a versatile piece, easy to dress up or down.

I really like the outfit because its a little dressed up but still casual because of the oversized cardigan, and it got me some compliments too!

I had a free period yesterday and it was so much fun, I spent it with 2 of my good friends talking about boys, careers and how our lives will be in the future.

By the time I got back home yesterday I felt pretty under the weather so I spent the evening in bed with my headphones in.

Happy Days

wpid-IMG_20140212_154718-1.jpg

Have you ever had one of those days where you are really happy on the inside, so much so that it starts to show on the outside, like you just find yourself smiling randomly. Well that was me yesterday.

I wore a stripy grey sweater with a floral jacket and grey trousers. The floral jacket is from h&m and I’ve had it for over a year. Even though I’ve had it for while I still love it as its a great way to add something extra to an outfit especially in winter when I end up wearing alot of grey and black.

Yesterday at college I spent over 3 hours working on my final piece for textiles. When my teacher came to look and see how I was getting on, she said she really liked my work ,which made me happy, as I’ve been working really hard on it.

Dressed to impress

wpid-IMG_20140211_203516.jpg I wore this outfit on Monday when I went to college. I’m wearing a black 3/4  sleeve bodycon dress, a acid wash denim vest and a skirt that is fully sheer as I cut off the black under-layer but its all good because of the dress underneath. To finish it off I added a belt at my waist because I think it finished off the outfit well and I think its a good contrast with a defined waistline and then the oversized denim vest on top.

I actually got the dress from Primark a few months ago but when I got home and tried it on it was way too short (in my opinion) and the fit of it wasn’t so good. Monday was actually the first time I’ve worn it but I was pleased with how the look turned out.

So when I was at college in Textiles class my friend told me I looked really nice, she then asked me who I was trying to impress. Being me I laughed then tried to deny that it had anything too do with a guy but she didn’t believe me (she’s much more observant than I realised!)

Generally for college I dress very casual but this week I just wanted to make more of an effort because I’m trying to experiment more with my style but also if I bump into a certain someone I want to look ‘en pointe’.

More of the good stuff

Over the next week or so I will be making some changes to my blog.

These changes are due to the fact that I want to make my blog better and after reading a tonne of blogging advice online I’ve realised that their is much to be improved.

The main thing I want to change is the content. I want to post more about fashion, include more photo’s, improve my writing and plan things out more.

I’m really looking forward to transitioning my blog from ok —> AMAZING!!! (hopefully)

That’s it for now, until next time…

Expressive February: Week 1

So the first week of February is o-v-e-r.

It really is true that time flies, not so so sure that it has anything to do with how much fun your having though as this week was not the greatest.

But lets not dwell on the bad times, lets get onto how this week has been in terms of my expressiveness!

If your new to my blog you might be thinking ‘what is this girl on about?’

So I’ll just give you a little recap:

I decided that my blog/life theme for February would to be to challenge myself to be more expressive in every way.

——

What does it mean to be expressive?

Expressive:

Adjective

Effectively conveying thought or feeling.

——

I’m the kind of person that tends to hide my feeling, quite alot.

This past week I think that I’ve learnt that its easier for me to express myself one on one rather than in a group. I’ve found that their is much less pressure.

This week when I was hanging out with a group of friends/acquaintances I noticed that when I was having a conversation with one of them I wasn’t holding back. I was being expressive but I also realised that if I was having that same conversation with the group I wouldn’t have said as much.

——

Ok so I was just looking for the opposite of expressive to use to describe myself, so I could say

‘I’m not expressive I’m (insert antonym of expressive here)’.

Looking on the online thesaurus, this is what I got: expressionless, inexpressive, passive and undemonstrative.

Right now I’m actually pulling a face, I really don’t like any of those words.

I was thinking I’m more elusive (I really like that word), maybe.

I don’t want to be a bore and make this post too long so I’ll wrap it up.

For a summary of the week I’ll declare that its been alright, I’ve learnt some things about myself and I’m definitely looking forward to the week ahead.

Spring Trends ’14

Hey,

So I live in England and its currently still winter but I’m really looking forward to the warmer weather.

This week I was looking through the Stylist Magazine and they had a section on upcoming spring trends.

My first thought was ‘blog about it’ and that is what I am doing.

So without further ado:

SPRING TRENDS ’14

Lilac

Logos

Sports Luxe

Wearable Art

3D Florals

These obviously aren’t all the trends but I just decided to focus on a few.

Other SS14 trends: crop tops, sheer (prints and layering), blush pink and white boyfriend trousers to name a few

I’m going to be doing lots more fashion related posts focusing on each trend one by one with outfit ideas and more.

If you like the sound of that then click follow, to be in the know (ooooh that rhymed!).

If you’ve also done a post on next seasons trends, I’d love to see it so feel free to leave a link in the comments. Or just leave a comment letting me know what upcoming trends your looking forward to trying.
